American Curl
Breed Description

The American Curl is a well balanced, medium size cat whose most disctinctive feature is its unique, attractive curled-back ears; the result of a spontaneous ear mutation in the domestic cat population of the United States.

Selective breeding began in 1983 resulting in a cat of moderate type, neither cobby nor fine-boned, with a flat, silky coat.

The American Curl is an alert and active cat with a gentle disposition.

The American Curl is an Interim breed with an adopted Standard and will be automatically upgraded
to Championship status when a full register example of the breed is registered in New Zealand.
