The ideal Velvetdoll is a medium to large, moderately longhaired cat. Being a non-pointed derivative of the Ragdoll Breed the head forms a broad, equilateral triangle, modified by a gently rounded muzzle.

Eyes are large and oval with clear, distinctive eye colour conforming to coat colour. The body is long, broad and solid with heavy boning.

The Velvetdoll has a naturally non-matting moderately long coat and long, plumed tail.
